School Overview

A primary and secondary school with more than 130 years of heritage thanks to it’s close links with it’s sister school, Kent College Canterbury.

Kent College Dubai opened in 2016 to pupils in Early Years, Junior and Senior- ages 3 to 18- and already has a reputation as a warm, friendly school with an excellent balance between academic achievement and pastoral care.Situated in Meydan South, and with fabulous facilities, KCD has been called a school with a wow factor, and a ‘ground-breaking school’. Most important, according to our present pupils it is a place where ‘the staff bring out the best in you” ....

We are a complete school with pupils of all ages from FS1 to Year 13 and we offer the full range of courses and activities that you would expect from the best schools in Dubai. So from the outset our pupils play their part in a complete school, and benefit from the interactions and learning experiences that flow from being a member of a whole community. Kent College Canterbury was founded in 1885, and has a strong reputation in the UK for its academic excellence and its emphasis on the personal development of each individual pupil. We are not just a franchise of Kent College Canterbury – we are effectively a second campus, with close collaboration between Dubai and the UK, and we fully share its values and ethos, and its academic aspiration. Strong ties between the two schools already exist, with joint lessons and other activities, regular professional collaboration and frequentindividual visits by staff and pupils between the two schools, and our first school trip to Kent College Canterbury took place in May 2017. Our pupils follow the British curriculum from the Early Years Foundation Stage in the kindergarten through to GCSE in Years 10 and 11. We currently offer A-levels in the Sixth form, but as soon as possible we intend to offer the International Baccalaureate Diplomaas an alternative Sixth form programme. Music, Art, Drama and Technology all have a central place in the academic and wider curriculum and we expect our pupils to get fully involved in performing, creating and innovating. A special feature of Kent College Dubai is the individual attention given to each pupil. Small classes of no more than 20 pupils, a carefully-developed tutoring system and individualized learning pathways allow each pupil to be him or herself within the school community.Where possible and appropriate, we appoint teaching staff who have trained and taught in the UK and Ireland, so they are fully familiar with the British curriculum and the best teaching practices associated with it, and many also have a rich international experience from the UAE and further afield. British independent schools are renowned for their success in developing young people’s confidence and life skills, and we do the same through an impressive variety of clubs, activities and sports, as well as the traditional house system to encourage a strong sense of loyalty and teamwork. The school is equipped with excellent outdoor and indoor facilities including a double-sized sports hall, separate artificial hockey and rugby pitches and a six-lane swimming pool, so that we can nurture pupils’ enthusiasm and skills across the whole spectrum of sporting ability as well as other intellectual and creative areas.
