School Overview

In 2008, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) formed the ADNOC Schools. The goal of its founders was to provide a challenging and rigorous secondary academic curriculum for Emirati and other highly qualified pupils in grades seven through eleven. Since then, ADNOC Schools has continued to expand to meet the needs of the Emirati communities of the UAE, and to date, has campuses in Sas Al Nakhl (Abu Dhabi), Madinat Zayed, Ruwais, and Ghayathi serving close to 7,000 students from KG1 through to Grade 12. The program of instruction is based on the successful model of the American Massachusetts State Curriculum and is delivered in English, alongside the Ministry of Education curriculum delivering Arabic, Islamic and Social Studies. To equip students with important skills and prepare them for their careers, ADNOC Schools have introduced the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) approach to learning supporting the vision of ADNOC and the UAE. The goal of ADNOC Schools is to prepare every school learner for admission into colleges and universities of the highest standing in the UAE and throughout the world. The ADNOC School of Abu Dhabi curriculum consists primarily of high-level national American standards for each subject. We use the national Common Core Standards for Math and English, the national Next Generation Science Standards for Science, and the national SHAPE standards for PE. The Social Studies Department is using the Maryland State Standards to drive the content of their courses while borrowing from Common Core English Standards to drive skills. As of December 2014, our Fine Arts and IT departments are in the process of selecting a set of standards through which to build an impressive standards-based curriculum. Our course offerings encourage students to work towards our wide range of AP level courses in their senior year. However, we have comprehensive course alternatives and electives that allow each student to create the most beneficial and relevant high school schedules for himself or herself as an individual.
